Liela Story
Liela is a passion project born from love for Latvia—its rich folklore, deep symbolism, and timeless beauty. Created by graphic designer Lasma Liepiņa, who spent years living abroad, Liela is a return to roots and a celebration of home.
After a decade of living away, mostly in Sweden, Lasma felt an even stronger connection to her culture and heritage. Inspired by Scandinavian design—clever, minimal, and full of soul—she began dreaming of a Latvian collection that could match that same timeless charm, but with our own spirit.
Liela is design meets tradition. Modern, geometric illustrations inspired by Latvian folk gods, goddesses, and symbols—reimagined into characters and stories you can hold, hang, or gift. Every piece is a small batch, thoughtfully produced, with the hope that it becomes your favorite mug, your cozy pillow, your most-loved print.
Liela means “big” in Latvian. And though this project is small, the dream is big: to make something beautiful, meaningful, and proudly Latvian.
